Sports medicine acupuncture uses the principles of traditional Chinese medicine with Western sports medicine to view the patient's problem with an integrative approach. During my training I did extensive cadaver work and Western orthopedic evaluations in addition to the combination of Chinese medicine specialty to blend the knowledge of both.
Using orthopedic muscle testing, postural assessment, and a special needling protocol, the musculoskeletal injury is restored to optimal function. Corrective exercises are given to promote healing. What happens very quickly is less pain, improved function and increased range of motion.
Chinese medicine also offers moxibustion, cupping, and herbal remedies, both topical and internal that help realign the patient.
